Coaching For Adult Learners

#014

I know exactly where you are right now.

You’re thinking about going BACK to school and finishing what you began some years ago.

You’re at a turning point.

You may feel like “it’s time.”

  • You always knew you would further your degree.
  • For whatever reason, it wasn’t right at the time.
  • Now you want to go back and the time is right.

OR

You may NEED the degree to remain in your current position:

  • The recent economic changes have made it necessary for you to get a degree in order to be competitive.
  • The time may not be right for this commitment (personally) but professionally it needs to be done.

OR

You want to further your degree because you desire a new and different career

  • You have hit a dead end in your current job.
  • You want more.
  • You know you deserve more.
  • Or maybe you are currently unemployed or a parent returning to the workforce.

Whatever it was that brought you to this point, I know that you desire more and feel that the time is right to pursue your degree. I understand your apprehension too! You’re anxious about jumping into the pool with both feet. I know what you feeling because I have been there too!

You have got lots of questions flowing through your mind. Like:

What about my other demands?

As an adult learner, you have a family, partner, spouse, children or parents who need your support. You’ve got a job, a home, bills and other responsibilities now.

These other parts of your life should not and cannot be put on hold until you get your degree. Yes, you are an adult learner but “student” is only one hat you wear. You want to look at your entire life and create structures and strategies for both academic and life success.

You may be thinking…I didn’t finish school back when life was easy. Now life is very complicated. What makes me think I can do this now?

No. Maybe you didn’t finish school when everyone else did. Many young adults are overwhelmed with the decisions that are supposed to be made after high school. Some young students are not given emotional and financial support to pursue their academic goals. Others don’t want it bad enough at the time. Finally, for many adults returning to school now, they do so with a diagnosis of ADHD, ADD or LD that was not diagnosed or treated their first time around.

You know more about yourself now! Knowledge is power! By hiring me as your coachyou will learn how you learn and develop strategies that will bring you academic success!

I hear you saying… I know as much as my peers but they have the degree… I know I am smart enough, BUT I never follow through! What’s going to make this time different?

This time you have the wisdom that only living life can offer. My mother called it, “Graduating from the school of hard knocks!” You’re not the same person you were back then. You’re bringing more to the table now.

And finally you think: I’m afraid to make the commitment. If I don’t follow through this time, it’s my money I’m wasting.

That’s right: it is. This is why it is so very important to do this and to do it right.

As an adult learner you will want to:

  • Plan time to plan
  • Be accountable for follow through
  • Develop structures and strategies
  • Find support

There may not ever be a better time to get your degree!  As your life coach, I will co-create plans with you, support you, and keep you on track. I know this isn’t easy. However, having me as your coach will make it achievable.

Don’t put it off any longer – You deserve all the opportunities your degree will bring you.
